The project was notified on 11 February 2008 and the project partners are the Austrian Agriculture Paying Agency (Agrarmarkt), the Veterinary and Food Department of Ministry of Agriculture of Latvia and the Food and Veterinary Service.

The aim of the project is to ensure a unified control of food products on all stages of food chain within the common market and all involved parties want to evaluate a situation concerting specific sectors of food chain, to elaborate recommendations for improvement of the system in Latvia concerning specific sectors of food chain and to improve surveillance and control system capacity of Food and Veterinary Service with regard to  audits and inspections which are specified by particular subjects.

The project leaders are Antra Briņķe - the director of Veterinary and Food Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Walter Schuller - a consultant of the Austrian Agriculture Paying Agency.

The Transition facility Program will provide funding as 178 013, 00 EUR, and State budget will provide 18 000 EUR.
