From October 25 to October 27 Minister of Agriculture Mr. Jānis Dūklavs visited Ukraine, Lviv, where he participated in the 17th Lviv Economic Forum. During the visit Mr. Dūklavs also had meetings with the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv and with Vice Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mr. Viktor Sheremeta. Ministers discussed further bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture, rural development and food safety.
Minister Mr. Jānis Dūklavs also attended State Agrarian University of agriculture of Lviv and had a meeting with Head of Lviv Regional State Administration Mr. Oleh Synyutka .
During the visit a possibility was discussed to implement a pilot project in Lviv Region on modernization of small and medium-sized farms, implementation of the EU standards in production food and surveillance of food safety, and development of rural areas. Minister Mr. Jānis Dūklavs emphasized that similar project of cooperation is already in action in the region of Chernigov.
