Latvia’s wood processing companies are exporting more than 90% of their end products. In the recent years, the value of exports in forestry sector is increasing and companies are producing more products with a higher added value. However, not so long ago the forestry sector constituted almost half of the total Latvia’s exports, now this share has reduced thanks to development of other sectors of economy. Moreover, upon developing a closer intersectoral cooperation, it is more difficult to outline borders of the forestry sector. As, for example, production costs of wooden furniture or wooden houses contain a large proportion of glass, metal and other products. Just as wooden parts from Latvia can be found in “Porche” car seats, floors of „Mercedes Benz” vans and in wooden paneling of containers on oiltankers and in many products of other sectors.
