In accordance with regulatory enactments of the European Union, Member States are intended to cover the total engine power of the fishing fleet and the total tonnage of the reference levels, which Latvia has to be respected. Latvian fishermen are obliged to co-ordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture engine replacement of fishing vessels, fishing vessels when buying a new fishing vessel construction and other ship conversion of fishing vessels, taking into account the actual engine power and tonnage of fishing vessels (except for personal consumption fishing by fishing vessels whose length is less than 10 m).

Application submission
In order to obtain the consent of the marine waters by fishing vessels for replacements of engines, the purchase of fishing vessels, a new fishing vessel construction and other ship conversion of fishing vessels have been contacted by the Ministry of Agriculture with the relevant application.
Decision making regarding approval or refusal of consent
Ministry of Agriculture iesniegumumu within one month shall evaluate and take a decision regarding approval or refusal of consent.
The receipt of consent
Applicants are given a co-ordination in maritime waters fishing vessels fishing for replacements of engines, the purchase of fishing vessels for the construction of new fishing vessels or other ship conversion of fishing vessels.
