With support from the EU Recovery Fund, the Ministry of Agriculture has completed the project “Development of Agricultural Data Centre cloud computing services within the national federated cloud”*. The project modernised the information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure of the Rural Support Service (RSS) and developed national data processing cloud services. These improvements will provide more secure, reliable and accessible digital services for the public, agricultural businesses and public authorities.
The project has created a modern and secure ICT environment by upgrading data centre infrastructure, introducing new data processing and storage equipment, and ensuring interoperability between data centres and cloud services. A self-service environment has also been developed to make the systems easier to use for customers.
The project has helped create an integrated ICT systems environment that enables more efficient use of resources, improves system security and ensures the stable operation of digital services for the public and public authorities. A total of seven new systems and platforms were introduced during the project. The modernised environment provides more secure data storage and processing, as well as faster and more reliable services, while strengthening the operational continuity of public sector systems.
The project represents a significant investment in Latvia’s digital development and the development of the National Data Processing Cloud. It contributes to creating an integrated, secure and flexible ICT environment for public authorities. The project has been completed with all its objectives achieved, providing a solid foundation for the further development of national information systems. In the long term, the EU-supported investments will help ensure secure and accessible digital services for people in Latvia.
The total cost of the project is EUR 3.76 million, of which EUR 3.1 million is financed through the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility.
