This week, representatives of Latvian food and agriculture businesses, together with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and its subordinate institutions, will pay a working visit to Kazakhstan. They will meet with Kazakh officials and businesses to explore and discuss potential areas of cooperation.
During the visit, meetings are planned with representatives of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and other institutions. The business delegation will participate in a business forum, visit local companies and meet with the management of the Kazakh Agrotechnical University.
Discussions with cooperation partners will focus on export opportunities for agricultural and food products, including certification requirements and the harmonisation of standards. Potential cooperation in forestry, education and research will also be explored. Businesses will also discuss opportunities for cooperation in logistics, including the use of Latvian ports and transport corridors for the movement of food and agricultural goods between Latvia and Kazakhstan.
The Latvian delegation is led by Jānis Irbe, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Climate and Energy. The business delegation includes representatives of JSC “Riga Port Group”, JSC “Baltijas Tranzīta Serviss”, agricultural services cooperative society “LATRAPS”, cooperative society “VAKS”, cooperative society “Jurgensburg Agro”, LTD “Cēsu gaļas kombināts”, LTD “Rēzeknes gaļas kombināts”, JSC “Smiltenes piens”, the association “Latvijas Piensaimnieku Centrālā Savienība”, LTD “Sertifikācijas un testēšanas centrs” and JSC “Latvijas valsts meži”.
